There is nothing better than getting a hot drink on a subzero day! A and I went to The Bachelor Farmer Cafe that opened just yesterday. The new cafe is located in the old location where Askov Finlayson used to be. So basically next door to the original restaurant. Very convenient!
We didn’t know what to expect when we reached. There was a quite a big crowd for a very very cold day. So we just ordered a cappuccino and North Loop blend coffee which was on the house yesterday! How nice! We also got a ginger cookie.
First impression – Loved the cappuccino. A good cappuccino has the right blend of espresso and milk and this one was just that. It was creamy but not the kind that overpowers the rich taste of espresso. It was definitely on the wet side and the aroma was delicious!
The black coffee (which I turned it to brown with milk) however wasn’t up my alley. I found it to be very light. I did add milk to my coffee but I add milk to all my coffee. The coffee itself is from Dogwood Coffee and I love Dogwood Coffee but I can’t say the same about this particular blend. I will stick to cappuccino next time 🙂
The interior and the ambience – well like their original restaurant, this cafe gives me happy vibes! It is bright colorful with big windows and lots of prints! You can enjoy your drink with group of friends on a table or you can grab one of those window seats if you are alone. Loved my window view today by the way.
Besides cookies and coffee, they also have a big selection of pastries and sandwiches along with alcoholic beverages like beer and wine.
Overall The Bachelor Farmer Cafe is a great addition to the Northloop neighborhood. This cafe definitely gives a twist to third wave coffee shops. I am already looking forward to trying their sandwiches which could very well be…today!
