I consider myself a Minneapolite (if there is a term as such) since I live west side of Twin Cities metro. I spent most of my time around Minneapolis but I do love occasional strolls on the other side of the river. Although I am not very familiar with the food-scene in St. Paul, I have a list of favorite places I like to stop by; Black: Coffee and Waffle Bar (BCWB) being one of them.
BCWB, as a name suggest is a coffee and waffle bar. It is more of a breakfast place but if you were my sister, this can be your breakfast, lunch and dinner place. She loves breakfast. To be honest, I have never been here for breakfast either. I usually make it around late afternoon. So this place for me is more of a late-afternoon-snack-place?
As far I know BCWB serves coffee only from Dogwood Coffee Co. I find Dogwood Coffee sometimes a bit of hit or miss. My suggestion will be if you like dark strong coffee then stick to espresso drinks versus regular brews. It is just my preference and it could very well be the blend that I have tried.
Waffles, without a doubt were really good! I got the apple strudel waffle. They were fluffy and light with the right amount of sweetness and generous of cinnamon and of course a big dollop of whip cream. I didn’t mind any of it. I savored every bite and I wasn’t even hungry. Writing this post is actually making me hungry now. Funny how that works 🙂
The space itself is not my favorite. A little disorganized in my opinion but don’t be discouraged by the space because the waffles are top-notch. I already know what I want next time I visit. Naughty Waffle. Hah!
BCWB just opened their second location fairly close to their first one in St. Paul. I have yet to visit the new place and judging by the pictures that I have seen on social media, it looks pretty chic! **On my list!**
