Last weekend I had the opportunity to sample some of the items from Barnes and Noble’s (BN) newest cafe aptly named Barnes & Noble Kitchen. This is one of the only 3 concept BN stores in the country. Chef Sheamus Feeley gave an overview of the menu and boy was the food amazing! We were seriously blown away; especially by the brisket burger!
The BN Galleria store itself has been completely renovated. The restaurant is tucked in one corner of the store with both sit down and bar style seating. The whole place has a bit of a mid century modern look (which I am loving at the moment). The whole idea behind BN Kitchen is to celebrate classic cafe culture and to enjoy simple food- just the way it should be. So you won’t see any complicated cuisines on the menu but just high quality ingredients served to perfection.
There were quite a few things we tried but the brisket burger definitely tops my list. Simple yet beautifully cooked beef patty wrapped in melted cheddar goodness. That’s all. I believe simplicity of the burger was the main reason behind why many of us loved it. Closely following is the Chopped Vegetable Salad served with (amazing) green goddess dressing. I would love to have that dressing on everything! The brick cooked chicken served on a bed of potato puree mixed with tarragon butter was another of my favorites. This is one of those classic hearty comfort food that everyone loves. And let’s not forget Butterscotch Pot de Crème. So good! You have to try these to believe it.
It has been some time that a cafe has wow-ed us. Barnes and Noble definitely brought their A-game with the new store concept. I hope they bring the concept to more Barnes and Noble stores across the state. I am pretty sure everyone is going to enjoy this just like we did!
